What cars have been scrapped so far?

 It?s been one month since the scrappage scheme began and over 35,000 cars have been crushed.

We look at some of the cars which have been exchanged for a £2,000 new car discount.


The scrappage cheme ? which kicked off on May 18, 2009 ? has seen Porsches, Mercedes and even a 1968 Morris Minor scrapped.

The scheme offers buyers £2,000 towards the cost of a new car in exchange for scrapping a ten-year-old vehicle.


Half of the £2,000 discount comes from the government, and the other half from the car maker.


Hyundai confirmed over 200 Nissan Micras have been scrapped for i-10 superminis, with one dealer surprised at seeing a jaguar XJ6 sent to the crusher.

Auto Trader previously reported an average 3,181 sales per day have been made under the scheme, which means funding could dry up by the end of August 2009.


The government denied the scheme could be extended.


Phillip Harrison was one of the first drivers to scrap his Subaru Legacy car for a £2,000 bonus.


Auto Trader also talked with a 75-year-old driver has scrapped his Audi A4 for a Toyota Auris.
